很久以前,有一粒小水滴听东海爷爷讲有关东海的故事.它知道东海用千里之遥,不能形容海的辽阔,用千仞之高,不足以形容海的深度.它非常羡慕东海.
于是,它问东海爷爷：“东海爷爷,为什么东海那么辽阔还那么深呢?”东海爷爷告诉它：“我以前也是一粒小水滴,我和许多伙伴们日夜不停地奔流,小伙伴汇集融合在一起,就成了一条小溪,但我们没有停止脚步,继续日夜不停的地向前奔流,然后又成了江河,最后许多江河汇集在一起,就成了大海,形成了现在的东海.”小水滴又问：“我们真的有那么大的力量吗?可以变成小溪,变成江河,变成大海吗?”东海爷爷回答道：“当然可以啦!不积小流无以成江河,所以你们都可以成为大海的.还有,成海以后,不要忘记小水滴的存在,更不要轻视小水滴的力量,它可是我们生命的源泉啊!没有它,就没有我们.”
小水滴记住了东海爷爷的话,最后终于成为了著名的南海.
